The United States is deeply concerned by recent statements by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, in which he describes Crimea as "Russian". This is stated in a statement of the American Embassy in Bulgaria, sent to the media.
They point out that the United States, the G-7, the European Union and NATO have always been clear and united in their position that despite Russia's attempts to annex it and the ongoing occupation, Crimea is Ukrainian.
"All of us, including Bulgaria, declared at the Crimean Platform Summit in August that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine and that we do not and will not recognize Russia's attempts to legitimize the illegal occupation and occupation of the peninsula.
