Today, July 25, the long-awaited International Folklore Festival in Plovdiv begins. In the 26th edition, after a two-year break due to the covid pandemic, representative folk ensembles from Argentina, Brazil, Romania, Georgia, and Turkey will meet in the city under the hills. On the Bulgarian side, the hosts are Folklore Ensemble "Trakiya" - Plovdiv with the chief artistic director: Prof. Dr. Daniela Jeneva, and Folklore Dance Ensemble "Dilyanka" with artistic director Maria Kyoseva. In this edition, "Dilyanka" celebrates its 30th anniversary with an exceptional concert performance.
On the days from Monday 25th to Friday - 29th July, every evening from 5:30 p.m. there will be a parade of the ensembles along a route from "Dom Levski", Main Street to the stage at "Stefan Stambolov" Square, where from 6:00 p.m. .short concerts will be performed. The official evening performances of the participants on the stage of the Ancient Theater start at 20:00 and entry is free! In addition to the concerts in Plovdiv, there will also be performances in the city of Peshtera.
The 26th International Folklore Festival is organized by the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the city's Cultural Calendar for 2022.
