“Bulgarian Association of Restaurants” and “Union of Restaurants in Bulgaria” sent their statement to the media.
Two weeks after the introduction of the "green certificate", 94% of the restaurant industry is on its knees. The conditions for its introduction, which have nothing to do with what was promised by the government to the business, have already forced thousands of owners across the country to close their sites, says the statement of the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants / BAZ / and the Union of Restaurants in Bulgaria / SZB /, sent to the media outlets in the country.
The two organizations recall that in a national survey for the issuance of certificates for a positive antibody test, more than two thirds of business representatives insisted free tests, introduction of "green certificates" for all retail outlets, government and municipal officials, and also the "green certificates" to be valid when the country is in a dark red zone of morbidity. As well as to solve the problem with people who, due to accompanying diseases, are not recommended to be vaccinated. The two organizations remind that the proposals have not been accepted and insist on urgent actions by the state. BAZ and SZB state that they will not organize a protest a week before the elections, so as not to be defined as political.
"That is why we insist on urgent action on the part of the state. We are not interested in your political games and populism. We do not care how afraid you are to make a decision, knowing that is right, but that you have no personal interests in acting on it. You have five performance points, even if you pick three of them, you will save thousands of people employed in the tourism sector. We expect action, ladies and gentlemen, not another passing the ball, and do we have a mechanism to counteract you – yes. We can protest again, probably in a different form, because the "walks in the center" don't seem to work, and in your eyes, they are not a threat. Are we going to do it now - no, we won’t. We won’t protest a week before the election, because again you will say that it is political, and do you know how this sounds in the ears of an owner of a bankrupt restaurant, do you know how this sounds in the ears of a bartender, waiter, a cook ...? Cynical, of course! Don’t allow yourselves to classify business protests, protests with specific economic demands, as political", the statement reads.
