On February 3, the Cinema House will host the premiere screening of the trilogy "BECOMING", which brings together three short dance films created entirely by Bulgarian artists and performers.
The short films talk about the identity of modern people - femininity, masculinity and adolescence and explore the interaction between dance and documentary filmmaking.
"INNER BLOOM" is the idea, choreography and performance of Stephanie Handjiiska. The film explores the various stages of femininity through a surreal female character who, through a series of events, grows up and learns to be a woman in her own skin.
"SURRENDER" is directed by Kosta Karakashyan and focuses on four of the most successful and fascinating male dancers in Bulgaria - Nikola Hadjitanev, Remi Toin, Krastyo Metodiev and Svetoslav Seropyan.
Combining their performances with first-person documentary stories, the film traces the personal connection of each of them with dance, to understand how it interacts with the idea of masculinity in Bulgarian society.
"BREAKOFF" is a short poetic-documentary film by Silvia Cherneva, which deals with the topic of learning, patience and perseverance in the process of growth and the building of character.
The film was shot at the Stone School in the village of Kunino and the stone quarry near it, where Bulgarian teenagers learn the almost forgotten craft of stonemasonry.
The "Man with a Hat" Foundation focuses on the dance film and aims to touch the general public with this art, even when dance lovers can't visit the salon and want to provoke everyone to reach for the dance and unlock their creativity.
The mission of the foundation is to support, develop, produce and disseminate Bulgarian talent in the field of contemporary dance and dance cinema.
Especially for the premiere of the trilogy, the authors Stefani Handzhiyska, Kosta Karakashyan and Silvia Cherneva have prepared interesting points for discussion and will give the opportunity for the audience in the hall to ask their questions after the screening.
"BECOMING" is realized within the program "Focus Cinema Dance" with the support of the National Fund "Culture" of the Republic of Bulgaria.
